Waxing is the process of removing unwanted hair from the body by pulling the hair from its follicle. Most growth cycles take 4-6 weeks for new hair to grow in that area.
Wax Do's...
-
Wait until your hair is long enough! Hair should be about a quarter inch long = a grain of rice to have a great waxing experience. But also, make sure the hair isn't too long, this will only increase discomfort.
-
Do arrive to your appointment clean, while we do understand things happen, wipes are provided for such occasions.
-
For the best results, stay consist and book your appointments every 4 weeks.
-
Relax! Take deep breaths, being relaxed = a great appointment!
-
Wear comfortable clothing. (Ex. cotton panties)
-
Let us know if you have any allergies to ANYTHING and/or any medications you're taking or applying topically.
-
Exfoliate 1-2 days before your appointment.
Wax Don'ts...
-
Numbing creams, unfortunately, numbing creams don't penetrate the skin deep enough to work. Any discomfort you MIGHT feel will only be temporary.
-
If you need to tan, do it a MINIMUM of 3 days before waxing.
-
Drink large amounts of coffee and/or alcohol, this may increase the discomfort of your waxing experience.
-
Plan your appointment right before, right after or during your menstrual cycle, this can also increase your discomfort. If you must have your appointment during your period, please arrive with a fresh tampon.
-
Don't be nervous! Just Relax!
Please Be Aware:
Waxing can cause "skin-lifting" when the top layer of the skin is torn away during waxing. Although lifting is a normal hazard of waxing, the following can/will further encourage it....
Do Not Wax if you are:
-
Taking blood thinning medications
-
Taking medications or autoimmune diseases, ex. lupus
-
Taking prednisone or steriods
-
Have Psoriasis, eczema or any other chronic skin conditions
-
Recent sunburn
-
Recent cosmetic surgery/reconstructive surgery
-
Recent laser skin treatment
-
Severe varicose leg veins
-
History of cold sores/fever blisters, doing so can cause flare ups
-
Using any skin peeling agents
-
Recent surgical peel, microdermabrasion or chemical peels using glycolic, AHAs, salicylic acid
